City Marshal's Office to Begin Guard-Scan Program Offered to Local Businesses.

January 15, 2010: During the January City Council meeting, City Marshal Mike Corley will inform the council of a new programmed to be offered to local businesses. The Guard-Scan program, which is an electronic monitoring and logging system, will be offered free of charge to the businesses. The program is designed to electronically monitored and logged as each security check of the businesses are conducted. The date and time will be logged on a wireless scanning device, each time the business is checked. This will help create a time frame in the case of a burglary or other incidents that may occur.

A small coded tag will be place near the doors on the businesses that wish to participate in the program. The tag is coded with a unique number that will be associated with a business. Each business can have up to two(2) scan tags per physical address. Businesses that would like to participate will need to pick up and application form from the Marshal's Office.
